Help a Single Dad This Father's Day

Dear Friends of the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation,

This Father’s Day, take a moment to help a single dad in financial despair by making a contribution to the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation: www.andreriveroflife.org/donate.htm

We don’t just help single moms.
We help single caregivers of catastrophically ill children who are in financial despair.

Many parents that we help are Dads. These are Dads who must juggle caring for their seriously ill child with keeping food on the table, a roof over the family’s head and gas in the car. Dads who are forced to decide between staying at work to keep health insurance or quitting work to stay at their child’s bedside. Dads who face the dilemma of buying their child’s medicines or buying the siblings’ food.

While we cannot cure his child, we can soften a Dad’s burden and you can help us to do that this Father’s Day! We pay urgent expenses ~ such as rent, utilities, insurance and gas ~ so he can stay at his child’s bedside during catastrophic illness. And not have to make these impossible choices.

Just recently, we helped a father whose 7 year old son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). His treatment will continue for the next three years and two months. His father, who not only recently found himself a single parent but also laid off from his job, wants nothing more than to be by his son’s side while he is recovering from the extreme side effects of chemotherapy. J.’s father hopes to return to work once J. is well enough to go back to school. While Dad is unable to work, we have provided four months of mortgage payments, so this family would not lose their home.

There are many more dads like J.’s father, who need help. Please help us help them, when compassion can’t wait.

This Father’s Day, remember a dad who is too busy caring for his sick child and his family to celebrate. Help us provide him with urgent financial assistance so that he can focus on his family. We can relieve financial crisis that will allow him to be where he most wants to be; with his sick child, and not buried in financial despair

Make a gift today at www.andreriveroflife.org/donate.htm

Just $50 will help buy a grocery card so a dad can feed his family; $100 will pay overdue utilities; $750 will pay rent for a month, so that Dad and his family don’t face eviction while caring for a sick child.

Social workers at our 12 partner hospitals refer families in dire need to ASRL. We will send you a case history of a family your contribution has helped.

From all of us at ASRL, thank you,
Sincerely,

Anne Swire

P.S. To Dads everywhere, Happy Father’s Day!
